Use this QUICK REFERENCE TABLE to determine ILLUMINANCE (in footcandles) or SIZE of any lighting area, for any PAR64, at any DISTANCE.

NOTES ON TABLE

1.) Candlepower (CP) divided by distance squared = illuminance (fc or lux) at any distance.

2.) Both the horizontal and vertical BEAM then FIELD angles are shown under each lamp. To determine area size: Width = .018 x angle x distance. You will need to determine both horizontal and vertical angles.

3.) This table uses the BEAM ANGLE for all area calculations (where central cp. drops to 50%). The FIELD angle may also be used for area calculations (resulting in larger areas) however for entertainment lighting, the BEAM angle is where ‘noticeable’ drop-off of light occurs with a PAR64 and it is this angle that should be used for most calculations.
